Local Issues
Barrys Field

Barry's Field is Winterslow's Sport's Ground, situated in Weston Lane.

The pavilion is fully functional with kitchen, changing rooms, with shower facilities.

It was named after Barry Matthias, a much loved member of the community who owned and ran the village bakery, on Gunville Hill, supplying daily fresh bread and cake for the villagers. He also supported many sports in the village including the supplies for teas for the cricket club which included one of the player's favourite, Barry's lardy cake!

On completion, Winterslow Cricket Club moved to the new ground, after playing cricket at the recreation ground on and off for over 100 years.

Clarendon Juniors [football] and Youth Club also enjoy using the facility.

Since it's opening all visiting opposition clubs have admired it's position and the facilities it offers. Over the next few years it will reach it's full potential as a Sports Hub for the village.

Everyone who enjoys sport, whether it is playing or spectating, can make use of this great facility and hopefully introduce other sports that could be accomodated at the ground.
